Delete Your Account
aNewsReel accounts are optional — the app works without one. If you created an account (a name and email address used to back up your preferences) and want it deleted, you have two options. Both permanently remove your data; there is no way to restore a deleted account.
Option 1: Delete it in the app (instant)
- Open aNewsReel and go to the Account tab.
- Tap Delete my data.
- Confirm the deletion.
This immediately and permanently removes your name, email address, and synced preferences from our servers, and clears the account from your device.
Option 2: Request deletion by email
If you no longer have the app installed, email us at info@anewsreel.app with the subject "Account deletion request", including the name and email address you used in the app so we can find your account. We will delete it and confirm to you within one month, as required by UK data protection law — in practice usually much sooner.
You can use the same address to request deletion of any feedback (including attached screenshots) you sent us through the app.
What is deleted, and what is kept
Deleted: your name, your email address, and the copy of your in-app preferences stored on our servers.
Kept: anonymous usage analytics already recorded under your account's random identifier remain in aggregate form, but once the account is deleted they can no longer be linked to you. Anonymous Catchup search logs contain no account information in the first place. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
